Dr Geoffrey Clements, Chairman

Geoffrey is a capacity building and skills training expert across the infrastructure spectrum. He is a specialist in solar energy and other renewable energy technologies, specialisations for which he uses the knowledge and expertise he gained in his BSc and DPhil studies in Applied Physics at the University of Sussex and in subsequent projects.


Geoffrey leads our activities in India. He headed a team to create the Master Plan for the Solar City project in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, and has organised and participated in the delivery of workshops on road transport and urban development for ministries of the Indian Central Government. From 2012 to 2014, he was an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT Ghaziabad), near Delhi, one of India's top ten business schools. Geoffrey regularly gives lecture and workshop sessions at universities, business schools and engineering colleges across India. He is also a regular speaker at conferences in India, addressing topics including the globalisation of higher education, professional education & training and infrastructure topics.


Geoffrey directs the development of CIP's capacity building and skills training programmes and their accreditation.


Geoffrey has organised and chaired over 20 international conferences spanning a broad range of subject areas, with speakers and delegates including Nobel Prize Winners, leading professors, business leaders, government representatives and diplomats. He has addressed plenary sessions of UN conferences, and has been an invited speaker on a spectrum of topics at many conferences. He has conducted projects and organised conferences in over 70 countries – in the Commonwealth and further afield. These activities include consultancy in renewable energy and other infrastructure sectors; workshops and training programmes for government departments; lecture tours of universities and business schools; and academic and professional exchange programmes. He has led projects in countries including the Philippines, the People's Republic of China, Brazil, India, Russia and Armenia.


Geoffrey has an extensive network of contacts in the corporate, educational, diplomat and parliamentary circles, in the UK and in India, and acts as a consultant and facilitator for project development between the two countries, in particular for technology and infrastructure related projects. He is on the committee of the Indo European Business Forum (IEBF), a high profile forum bringing together prominent corporate leaders, parliamentarians and diplomats from the UK and India, to promote business development, investment and mutual understanding, and to promote the UK's position as India's gateway to Europe.
